and the writing of said dialogue is not very strong.ĭespite those info dumps so many important thing are still left unexplained. It has so much useless talk and info dumps. Re:zero, would take ages to explain mostly because the show has some masterpiece level elements to it.ĭue to the nature of it being adapted from a light novel there is a lot of dialogue, and the anime did not fo enough to cut it down to the necessary stuff. it doesn't go above and beyond in anyway, its just a decent enjotable show. Sorry 😔😔.įine, but keep in mind that i'm not calling these bad, I just think they aren't as good as the other stuff.ĭr stone is a fun show. I personally wouldn't recommend it, but I guess I just wanted to work out my thumbs. If you're insane enough to actually read through the whole thing, props to you. That's why it's truly great, and that's why it's hard to truly appreciate it. Unless you fall under more than one category, it's unlikely you're going to love it. Someone could watch it for vampire action, some for the gorgeous visuals, some for the girls, some are just pedophiles, and some pay the most attention to mystery. You could go into it expecting 90 different things. It's intentionally made confusing, it is confusing on a base level, and it's super polarizing because of that.
#Last hope myanimelist series
It's a series that severely subverts expectations by having the entire plot shift on its head partway through, multiple times. I think that's perfectly fine, but the people who ended up not liking it where expecting more of THAT. Some people like it for the giant robots, the music, the cool "Shinji rage moment" type scenes, the blood. With more than any other series, except for maybe Lain, the view you have of the characters will have a dramatic impact on how you view the series, and with the characters' vagueness and mysteriousness of character being so unrivaled, (except for maybe Lain), people are going to have many different opinions on the series. It's not a series like Gurren Lagann where everyone loves it because it makes everyone feel the same thing, and makes everyone have the same experience with the characters.

If you're one of those aforementioned people who dislike that about it, then you're going to be confused as to why such a strange series is such a large part of pop culture. If you liked that, then you're like me and agree that the series was very very good. It didn't make me happy, and it didn't make me have a healthy cry either, but it did hit hard. Even I knew immediately after I finished it, that even though I thought it was incredible, it was an acquired taste. It's incredibly unique in it's presentation and plot, which drives people off. It doesn't have a traditional happy ending, it's not written like a Shakespearean masterwork where every single small detail is relevant to the plot and serves to intricately flesh out the characters (like Berserk Golden Age). Shinji never turns into a badass, he never has a "sick anime rage moment top 10" moment like he does in the rebuilds, he's just sitting in his mom as she goes through Mr. She's resentful and she doesn't love the MC, even in the end. Asuka in the main series doesn't follow the typical tsundere route because she actually grows to hate Shinji inside and out. Rei dies suddenly, then gets replaced by a clone that basically reverts all relationship progress with the other pilots to 0. Combine this with how the characters get shafted by the plot to deliberately unsatisfy viewers, and people will get mad about the way they're written. They are presented very artistically, but in a way that a lot of people are going to miss. Basically, the backstories for the characters are never actually told in an explicit way except for Shinji's. Obviously the reason the characters are great is because of their stories and their backstories, but that's also where a lot of people see a problem. Shinji's a little bitch, Asuka's a tsundere, and Rei is a robot. I know I said "a lot of people hate it" but really I only mean "a good few people dislike it." First, I can see how the way the characters are written would be off-putting, as at first glance they're meant to appear as basic as possible. As for anime, I've got (in no particular order):īasically, there are a bunch of surface level "issues" that I see people bring up with it. I have a different top 5 for anime and manga.
